GoodStoryADay Creative Image: Rider in Dawn’s“SunBow”- Photo by Joycebelle, Lake Arrowhead, California, USA, 1980

About Today’s Good Image:
Today’s creative image was taken at dawn at the edge of Lake Arrowhead, California.  I arrived at the lake site about 15 minutes before dawn. The air was fresh and not a ripple of a breeze touched down upon the lake. It was perfect but very cold. I placed a circular diffusion filter on my 200 millimeter telephoto lens, then placed it on my Nikon camera and mounted the camera on a tripod. As the sun peeked over the mountain, I adjusted the lens to capture the diffracting light patterns. I shot several exposures. This awe inspiring sun bow resulted.

At dusk, I photographed my son, Erik at age 5, on a small Y-Zinger dirt bike as he road across the Rim of the World, a southwestern edge of earth that projects 5,000 feet above the San Bernardino basin below. At sunset, it appears as though there is nothing but you and the golden sun. Through the magic of Photoshop and the skill of Heather Naomi, a friend of mine from Australia, the two photos came creatively together in one awesome image.

EEE’nJoy, Joycebelle

PS. This was the beginning idea or vision I had of a SunBow, which some 20 years later I used to draw the first sketches of yaDA, our little woBnuS or (SunBow spelled backwards.

Good Laugh: Mary Poppins has moved

It seems that Mary Poppins has moved to California. She has started a business telling people's fortunes. But, she doesn't read palms or tea leaves, she smells one's breath. That, right, the sign outside reads: Super California Mystic Expert Halitosis.
